To continue on our path of celebrating design, we are holding the event and auction at the Moore Building in Miami’s Design District.
In keeping with the spirit of the Festival of the Trees, the point of departure for the design must be representative of the holiday spirit, but does not have to be a tree. This year, we ask that designers address our theme of “T3CH-TROPOLIS 3.0: Manufacturing the Future.” For the past twenty-nine years, South Florida has been home to many creative and exceptional designers, many of which have contributed their many talents to the continued success of this event. This year we continue to celebrate excellence in design and the creative spirits behind it!
The categories for judging are: Most Elegant, Most Colourful, Most Sustainable, Most Creative, Most Illuminating, Most Progressive, Most Whimsical, Most Thematic, Most Animated, and People’s Choice.
SIGNAGE / LOCATION / ELECTRICITY:
The Festival of the Trees Committee will provide a sign with the Designer/Sponsor credits. No advertising will be permitted as part of the display. The Festival Committee will place all the submittals on pedestals strategically placed in the gallery setting. NOTE: The location of your tree is at the discretion of the committee. If you need electricity for your tree, please indicate such to the committee AT LEAST TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO THE EVENT.
The design should not exceed 24″ x 24″. The height should be determined by stability and practicality. Your design must be able to stand atop an 18″ x 18″ x 42″ pedestal. The weight should not exceed 80 lbs and should be able to be moved easily by two people. All trees must be displayed on the pedestal provided. If you choose to have your own, your design will be in eligible for judging and prizes. The pedestal provided is NOT to be altered or covered.
We will be auctioning your piece. Please provide a small label, or signature on or under the object. ADEQUATE PACKAGING MATERIAL SHOULD BE INCLUDED so that your tree can be handed over to the buyer safely.
In addition to the gala opening, the trees will be on display at Dadeland Mall from November 20th to January 8th. This will extend exposure of your design to all of Dadeland’s holiday shoppers. We will move the trees to Dadeland, but need you to package and set up your tree at Dadeland.
Each designer should assign a person to help package the tree at the end of the event on November 17th, and to set up the tree at Dadeland Mall on Sunday, November 20th between 8:30am and noon. Please ensure that we have the person’s contact information. If a tree has not been purchased, we will contact the design team to collect the tree on January 8th.
